What do I need to get started?
A Mac running macOS 13.0 or later. Turn on the built-in Chime model in settings and you are ready — no API key required. You can also connect your own OpenAI-compatible model service instead.
What is Chime?
Chime is the official Deskbell model: a lightweight assistant for quick questions, included in the app with a monthly quota. Chime+ subscribers get more questions each month. Paid subscriptions are coming soon.
Can I pick up a previous conversation?
Yes. Each conversation keeps its context, so you can ask follow-up questions, add details, or try another angle. You can also switch to a saved conversation and pick up where you left off.
Where is my chat history stored?
Chat history is stored locally on your device. To answer your questions, relevant messages, images, and tool results may be sent to the model service in use. Web tools also access the corresponding websites.
Can I change the keyboard shortcut?
Yes. The default is Control + Option + Space. Change it in settings to avoid conflicts with other apps.
